The Holme Valley and its People
The Holme Valley lies in the rugged and beautiful Pennine hills, in the south west corner of West Yorkshire within the Colne Valley Parliamentary Constituency of our M.P., the Labour Member Kali Mountford, and is a great favourite with walkers (and film crews).
The small town of Holmfirth and its surrounding villages and hamlets have their roots in the textile industry, with mills and weavers' cottages throughout the valley as evidence of its vigorous industrial past. Today there is a strong emphasis on the arts and music, and the Valley boasts theatres, band rooms, a museum, many artists' galleries and studios.
