On behalf of City of Edinburgh Council, the tram bill promoter, tie limited is proposing a network of tram lines in Edinburgh as a key component of investment in high quality integrated transport. 

At present, a network of two lines is proposed, one to the north (Line One) and one to the west (Line Two) of the city. 

The tram network will make travel around the city more accessible to all and help to make journeys less reliant on the car, significantly contributing to easing the city?s congestion problems.

It is planned that trams will be running in Edinburgh by 2009.
