The Leith Initiative

The Leith Initiative is a partnership approach whose aim is to make sure that new housing, employment and commercial opportunities in Leith benefits all the local community.

Eighty years have now passed since Leith became part of Edinburgh. However it still holds a strong feeling of community and place, based on its buildings, maritime history, businesses, and the people who live and work in the area.

New developments mean that the strong local community is facing new challenges.

The Leith Initiative is a co-ordinated partnership way of working whose aim is to make sure that the new housing, employment and commercial opportunities benefits all the local community.

For further information please contact the Conservation and Design Team in the Planning and Strategy Division of the City Development Department.

Please note that the name of this project, known as the Leith Initiative, may change in the future.
