County Councillor's Grant
Lindford's County Counicllor, Adam Carew writes: County Councillors have been given £10,000 to spend on community projects in their divisions. Applications can be from £100-£10,000. £10 k is not a great deal of money but it is very welcome none-the-less. I will consider all applications on thier merit but, rather than spending it all on one big project, I want to see this money benefit as many local groups as possible. It can be used for starting up new projects, helping existing projects or put towards one-off items of expenditure such as new equipment. Applicants for grant money will have to demonstrate that they meet one or more of the County Council's corporate priorities - enhancing quality of place, maximising well being or making the community safer for all. I will look particularly favourably at new schemes that benefit the wider community in areas such as local heritage, the environment, arts, leisure and community safety. The sort of community organisations that can apply include CAB, Arts Organisations, Heritage Groups, Conservation Groups, Parent Teachers Associations, Play Groups, Village Halls and Community Associations, Scouts and Guides, Disability Groups, Age Concern, Parish and Town Councils (see Hantsweb for a fuller list). These grants are available now. Application forms, eligibility criteria and details of how to apply are available on Hantsweb and ready to be downloaded. Providing all the criteria are met. It will be entirely up to each County Councillor to whom they distribute the grants and how much they donate. As Councillors do not receive any officer support to process, catalogue or administer applications, it will be up to each councillor as to when they are granted, depending on workload. These grants cannot be used for revenue funding or running costs. Grants will be one-off and there can be no expectation of further funding. Applications will not be accepted from individuals, political parties, lobbying organisations, groups outside the division (unless they can prove they are benefiting a number of local people within it).
