The Parish of Longcot is situated near the farthest western boundary of the administrative county of Oxfordshire and within the historic (or traditional) county of Berkshire. Longcot is a small village and rural Parish with an electoral population of only 400. Longcot falls with the District of the Vale of The White Horse and enjoys unrivaled views of the Bronze Age White Horse of Uffington Hill. Our communities nearest town is the market town of Faringdon (2.5 miles). We neighbour the much larger village of Shrivenham to our shouth west (2.5 miles), Watchfield to our west (1.5 miles) and our nearest neighbour of Fernham to the east (1 mile). Our Parish Council has five seats and all councillors, assisted by our Parish Clerk, work for our community on an entirely voluntary basis. Longcot Parish Council meets on a four, five or six weekly basis, except during the summer and Christmas holiday periods. Our meetings are on a Thursday evening at the village community room.
