New "Quiet Garden" for Ludgershall

JUBILEE GARDENS DEWEYS LANE, LUDGERSHALL Ludgershall Parish Council proposed using vacant allotment land in Deweys Lane to create a "Quiet Garden" back in May 2000. Oct 2000: Firms invited to tender to clear the land. March 2001: New fencing erected, land cleared. May 2001: Planning Permission for "Change of Use" granted & firms invited to tender for landscaping.. Sept 2001: Work commenced on landscaping planting of beech hedge and some trees. Oct 2001: Four seats erected. Nov 2001: Village Millennium Time Capsule buried in the Gardens. April 2002: Parish Council agreed to change name to Jubilee Gardens. June 2002: Official opening of Jubilee Gardens. April 2003: Sarsen Stone unveiled and sun dial erected..May 2003: New committee formed after Parish Elections, reappraised the design & future maintenance costings. A new planting design was drawn up with advice from KDC. Amendments to original Planning permission was necessary and permission has recently been granted. Extensive planting of trees & shrubs can now be undertaken to make it more user friendly. The Parish Council has already received donations from local residents but would gratefully receive further donations from individuals or local business to further enhance this long-term amenity for the Community.
