CHURCHSTANTON: OTTERHEAD ESTATE & LAKES

Churchstanton is a Somerset Parish in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The River Otter, impounded to form the Otterhead Lakes, is the boundary with Otterford Parish.

Churchstanton includes former estate farms and the western and north-western parts of the present-day Otterhead Estate with the site of Otterhead House; the House Leat; the lower section of the Bypass Leat; most of the surviving heritage rhododendrons as well as the Coach House and half of every lake.

Food, other refreshments and provisions as well as a Post Office are within walking distance at Churchinford, to the south-west via a cross-field public footpath from Otterhead. Please check opening times.
