| Nairn Suburban Community Council covers the West side of Nairn, including Achareidh Estate; Cranloch; Tradespark and Sandown and part of Altonburn. The Community Council was resurrected in April 2002 and currently has four Elected members and three co-opted members. Since 2002 we have fought for improvements to our local environment, with improvements to the local Woodland; a clean-up of the Alton Burn. We have also encouraged Highland Council to carry out improvements to its housing stock in our area, and we are involved in 'Safer Routes to School'; Nairn Community Care Forum; Nairn Community Council Forum and are involved in a campaign to improve Road Safety on the A96 Trunk Road through Nairn. Dog Fouling.... Since Nairn Suburban C.C. was reformed in 2002 they have been campaigning for more to be done to combat "Dog Fouling". More Bin's have been placed in the local area, but Dog Fouling continues to be a problem. This will continue to be an on-going fight to eradicate this problem. Sandown Parkland.. Nairn Suburban C.C. together with Nairn Wetlands & Woodlands Group are looking to set up a Park on the west side of Nairn, with a Community Facility to incorporate Community use and Teaching Facilities. We hope to use the natural water in the area to create a 'Wetland' area to attract wild life together with footpaths linking to other Nairn Walks, making it an attraction for visitors and locals alike.
