NEWTON ON TRENT www.thelocalchannel.co.uk/newtonontrent The village stands at the junction of the A57, running East to West, and the A1133, running North to South. Follow the A57 in an Easterly direction and you will eventually arrive in Lincoln. Follow it West and you will eventually meet the A1, the road that never sleeps. Travel South, along the A1133, and you will find the ancient market town of Newark. Travelling North will bring you to Gainsborough and Scunthorpe. The village has a population of approximately three hundred electors and its own Primary School, which attracts pupils from a number of the surrounding villages. The village sign depicts both the Church of England Church and the Methodist Chapel, as well as a reference to the school and the traditional farming activities of the area which are as strong today as in the past. The village has its own Post Office and General store, and the White Hart public house is also well worth a visit.
