Secondary Legislation

FOI Codes of Practice

There is a requirement in the Freedom of Information Act for the Secretary of State to produce two Codes of Practice on the discharge of public authorities functions, and on the management of records. Copies of these Codes are available here:

Annual Reports to Parliament

Under the Freedom of Information Act, the Secretary of State is obliged to make an annual report to Parliament on Implementation of the Act until such time as full implementation has taken place. The first two annual reports are available below:

Review of Legislation Governing the Disclosure of Information

Under section 75 of the Freedom of Information Act, the Government has been reviewing all legislation prohibiting the disclosure of information with a view to repealing, amending or retaining the provisions. Two reports on the review are available below:
