VICTORIAN TERRACED WALKS REVEALED
Volunteers from Bridgwater, Chard and Yeovil based Connexions have begun clearing years of vegetation, mainly overgrown laurel hedging, from a section of the terraced walks for which the grounds of Otterhead House were noted.
Connexions Volunteers at Otterhead and some of the Laurel This initiative by the Somerset Rural Youth Project brings various benefits to Otterhead. Visitors will in time have the choice of additional circular paths (this website will provide information when paths are reopened); maintenance of nearby water channels will be easier, improving the wildlife potential and the reduction of laurel will benefit more vulnerable surviving ornamental plants. There will also be the heritage benefit in that the layout of the Estate will be more easily understood when the access pathways are cleared of obstructions.
