Newsletter to all Parishioners
The purpose of this newsletter is to make everyone in Penton Grafton and Penton Mewsey aware that a Mobile Police Office (MPO) will visit The Pentons on the fourth Friday of each month from 1400 - 1600 hrs. It will usually be stationed in the lay-by on Weyhill Bottom Road, next to the pond.
The MPO will be open to anyone wishing to report crime or other matters of a non-urgent nature. We would ask anyone needing urgent police assistance to dial 999. Matters that need police deployment on a non-urgent basis can be phoned in on the new 101 number at the time of any occurrence.
Any matters of a community policing nature can still be passed to our local beat officer, PC Bill Williams via 0845 045 45 45 (Force Enquiry Centre).
The 101 service is mainly designed for people who need advice and action on safety and anti-social behaviour issues. The core service covers:
•· Vandalism, graffiti and other deliberate damage to property
•· Noisy neighbours
•· Intimidation and harassment
•· Abandoned vehicles
•· Rubbish and litter, including fly tipping
•· People being drunk or rowdy in public places
•· Drug related anti-social behaviour and
•· Street lighting
There is a flat rate fee of 10p per call.
The other aspect of the MPO role is the undertaking of foot patrols to provide a visible deterrent to criminal activity and reassurance to residents in village communities.
PC Ian Robinson and PC John Viney welcome visitors to the MPO and also look forward to meeting the residents of Penton Mewsey and Penton Grafton in their travels. I hope that you will support this initiative and take the time during one of their visits to introduce yourselves to them.
