THE COMMUNITY

Pentyrch Community Council serves the villages of Pentyrch, Creigiau, Capel Llanilltern, and Gwaelod y Garth. The villages are four separate communities situated to the north west of Cardiff. All are similar in nature being small rural villages surrounded by farmland and with very little commercial influences. Pentyrch, Creigiau and Gwaelod y Garth have community buildings which house various social and recreational groups. Pentyrch and Creigiau both have numerous thriving sports associations. Capel Llanilltern is a small hamlet within the Creigiau area. There are a variety of religious establishments throughout the Community area and three primary schools, two of which offer the option of teaching through the medium of Welsh. All the groups and organisations in the area contribute a great deal to village life and have a major influence on the character of the communities.
