Police Matters in and around Rope

Recent Issues In Our Community

As most of you will be aware, PC Sambrook, PCSO Flanagan and I held our latest Neighbourhood Action Meeting on Tuesday 1st July at the Berkeley Primary School. We had a good attendance as per usual, however we must apologise that we didn't advertise it as well as we have done in the past due to the workload we have had. This will be rectified for the next meeting which we aim to hold on Tuesday 7th October at 1900hrs at Berkeley Primary School.

The main issues we have been dealing with have been Speeding and Anti Social Behaviour.

The feedback we have received from residents, both whilst out on patrol, and through the meetings, is that ASB has drastically improved, especially when we are on duty. In light of this, Neil is now working a different shift pattern to me, thus resulting in more cover for the area. We believe that this can only have a positive effect on reducing the amount of ASB in and around Rope. Our main ASB problem seems to have returned to the Berkeley Primary school. The bulk of these incidents are occurring after Neil and I have finished duty at night, so we have made other patrols aware of the situation so they can try and pay some attention to the area when it is required.

If anyone would like to raise any further issues you may have, please leave us a message with all your contact details, on 0845 458 6370.

Speeding seemed to be the ‘biggie' at the last NAM and it is the same roads which keep cropping up. We are continuing with our speedwatch programme and will target the problem roads at the times when the problem seems to be the worst. Registration to become a speedwatch volunteer has changed, and is now less formal, so if anyone would like to offer their services, the please let us know. Also if anyone has any further times and roads you would like us to target, again please contact us, on 0845 458 6370.

Thanks again for your co-operation,
