Muse Stage Set Up at the New Wembley

The New Wembley Stadium as a Music Venue
The New Wembley Stadium has opened as a Music Venue. The first act to perform there was George Michael; however the first Rock act to perform there was MUSE. Selling Out two nights at the 90,000 capacity stadium (although for concerts I believe the capacity is nearer 70,000). I recently attended one of the Muse concerts and can now give you a run down on how the New Wembley performed as a music venue. I might be biased, because I think Muse are amazing, but their gig at the New Wembley last Sunday was unbelievable. It's amazing how much bigger the New Wembley is compared to the old. I remember going to concerts at the old Wembley stadium and the top of the stage would be taller than the stadium. If you look at the Muse Stage set up above you can see that it is dwarfed by the stand behind. We arrived at the stadium quite early so that we could get into the Golden Circle pit at the front of the standing area (see above). Once you come out of Wembley Park tube station your jaw hits the ground in amazement about just how big the New Wembley looks, with the new Arch towering over London. I loved the Twin Towers but the new Arch will become just as much of an icon. Because I was in the Golden Circle section of the stadium we probably experienced the best of what the New Wembley Stadium has to offer, because I thought the sound was amazing. However people near the back have said that the sound wasn't that great and was very quiet. During the support acts you could hear the sound echoing around the bowl, however during the main event this was hard to hear as it was so loud. Overall here are my ratings (out of 10) of Wembley as a venue: Stadium Look - 10 Sound - 9 (if near the front) / 5 (if near the back) Facilities - 8 (toilets, food - no wait at all) Cash Points - 1 (huge lines and waits - take cash with you before you get to the venue) Staff - 7 (very helpful, however I have heard some stories about people being chucked out for no reason by heavy handed bouncers) Transport - 4 (long waits for tubes after events and no car parks) Food - 3 (fast food quality at a ridiculous price) Merchandise - 4 (lots outside, but if you are in the golden circle then there aren't any at all. The merchandise stalls along Wembley way were shut after the gig, so buy before you leave) Overall Stadium Venue Rating: - 8 / 10 If you have any comments or stories about visiting the New Wembley Stadium then email them to me at mike.scoones@thelocalchannel.co.uk and I will post them up onto this site. After watching the Concert for Diana at Wembley, this was the first all seated concert at the stadium, please let me know how this was by emailing me at mike.scoones@thelocalchannel.co.uk.
