WABERTHWAITE & CORNEY PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting held on Monday 8thJanuary 2007 in Waberthwaite, Corney & District Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Present: Cllrs. J Varden, A Hadwin, R Thornton, A Clegg, M Steele, P Steele and N Southward (in the chair)  

1.      Apologies for absence received from Cllr E Wilson

2.      Minutes of the Meeting held on 13 November 2006. It was proposed by Cllr. P Steele and seconded by Cllr. J Varden that they were a true record of the meeting. The proposal was carried.

3.      Matters arising from the minutes:

3.1.      Up-date on bus shelter - nothing to report. Clerk to contact Karl Melville to find out what has happened to the request for a revised costing for this work.

3.2.      Lake District National Park Authority - Bridleway along Fell Lane, Waberthwaite, nothing to report - clerk to contact Lake District National Park Authority to find out what has happened to this proposed change.

3.3.      Up-date on the community car park - information with the solicitor

3.4.      Footway light at Bridge End - nothing to report. Clerk to contact Copeland Borough Council to find out why there has been no reply.

3.5.      Flooding at Skelera - reported to Highways Department. The work has not been done. The clerk was asked to contact the Highways Department again.

3.6.      Joint meeting with Bootle Parish Council on Cumbria Association of Local Councils' road-show - the clerk was asked to contact CALC to request a ‘Road Show' for the 19th March 2007 meeting.

4.      Correspondence

4.1.      Copeland Borough Council - Planning Seminar, 13th February 2007 - as it is about planning issues in Copeland out with the Lake District National Park Authority no one was interested in attending

4.2.      CALC - Proposed World Heritage Site for the Lake District - for information

4.3.      Lake District National Park Authority - Tree Preservation Orders available to view online - for information

4.4.      CALC - Local Government White Paper, Interim Position Paper, meeting 10.30am Saturday 3rd February 2007 at Newton Rigg College - Cllrs. N Southward and A Clegg said they were interested in attending. The clerk will be attending as an executive member of CALC.

4.5.      West Cumbria Rape Crisis - request for a donation - the council policy is not to give donations to bodies outside the Parish

4.6.       Copeland Borough Council - Concurrent Services Pool 2006/2007 - it was proposed by Cllr. A Clegg and seconded by Cllr. M Steele that the council ask for the maximum available to go towards the new bus shelter.

5.                        Business:

5.1.       Parish Plan - Action plan up-date - nothing to report

5.2.      Acceptance of a computer for the council from CALC - the clerk informed the council that a computer has been acquired from CALC and would need to be added to the council's insurance.

6.      Financial Report - Current a/c £196.22, Deposit a/c £1,354.30

7.      Any Other Business

7.1.   It was reported that burglaries had taken place in the parish over the last week and that Cllr. E Wilson, the council's Neighbourhood Watch representative had been inform.

7.2.   It was agreed that the clerk should contact CALC to inform them that the Parish Charter should include the Lake District National Park Authority as a party to the Charter.

7.3.   It was agreed that the clerk should reply to the Lake District National Park Authority's Local Development Framework consultation. The clerk also asked those councillors on the internet to complete the online questionnaire.

7.4.    Cllr. P Steele reported that the Highways Department have been to look at the drains at the top of Broadoak.

7.5.   The light at Lane End is still not working - clerk to report this

7.6.   The drains at Skellara are still blocked, also the ones on the top Corney road - clerk to ask the Highways Department to contact Cllr. J Varden.
