Bootle & District First Responders

Bootle and District Community First Responders

Responders are local volunteers who are trained by Cumbria Ambulance Service to provide Basic Life Support in case of medical emergencies such as collapse, chest pain or breathing difficulties, until professional help arrives. They are also trained to provide defibrillation if necessary.

In such emergencies the ambulance emergency service (999) should always be called.  This will ensure that an ambulance is on its way. If appropriate the ambulance service will activate the First Responders who will provide support until the ambulance arrives.

The newly formed Bootle and District Community First Responders will help to fill the gap between Millom and Muncaster, where, in both areas, responders are already established.

Following regular and continuous training and assessment the Bootle and District group are now operative and available to respond as directed by the ambulance service.

They have been very well supported by Cumbria Ambulance Service staff and by the local community who have been very generous in supporting many fund raising efforts to help to provide the necessary equipment.

Members of the community can help the emergency services and the First Responders if they ensure that their house number or house name is clearly displayed.

Any members of the community who would like to become responders or would like to support the group, please contact David Earley on 01229717181
