District/County Councillor Notes Nov 05

NOTES FROM YOUR DISTRICT AND COUNTY COUNCILLOR

With regard to the request for a dropped kerb at St John The Divine Church in Acklington I can now confirm it is being funded out of my County Council members small schemes allocation, the Highways Department have approved the request and I am just awaiting an estimate and then I will have the work carried out as soon as possible.

I can also confirm that the new see-saw for the Guilden's play park is ordered and should be in place before the Spring.

I have been involved in lots of issues raised by residents this month and have taken action as required with the following:

  • I have had the large George White advertising sign at the top of Beal Bank removed.
  • The pedestrian crossing area at the junction of Morwick Road and Beal Bank was not reinstated correctly after it was resurfaced and will now be redone correctly.
  • I complained to the District Council about the state of the footpaths on Castle Street as they were covered with dead leaves, the Council came shortly afterwards and cleaned them.
  • I have reported the holes in the road which have already appeared in the new surface of Morwick Road.
  • The Parish Council have objected to the proposed new Holiday Homes in the garden of 48 Morwick Road on the grounds of unsuitability and I am keeping in close contact with the Planning Department about the proposal.
  • I have brought to the County Council's attention the state of the footpaths for varying reasons in Dial Place, Acklington Village Hall to the Railway and the high path above Welfield opposite the castle. I am awaiting responses about all of them.
  • I am in touch with the District Council Engineers and the County about the recent flooding that threatened houses in Magdalene Fields.
  • I was pleased to be of assistance to The Acklington Community Team in their search for funds for a photocopier.
  • The footpath from behind the Castle to the Cricket Club entrance is to be inspected by the County Council 'Rights of Way' department and they will report back to me.

As this is the last Pelican before Christmas I would like to wish all residents in Acklington and Warkworth an enjoyable and happy time.
