NOTES FROM YOUR DISTRICT AND COUNTY COUNCILLOR

I am very disappointed to learn that the Parachute Club planning application that was refused by the District Council is to be the subject of an appeal. I would encourage everyone who has lodged objections to the application to send a further letter (3 copies) to the Planning Inspectorate, 3/08a Kite Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN by the 9th January 2006. The Officers at A.D.C. as well as Councillors are working hard to put forward a convincing case but support from the public can certainly help.

The County Council have agreed to carry out maintenance work on the footpath next to the Warkworth Cricket Club as well as the footpath in the woods opposite Acklington Station. They have also said they will repair the gate into the playing field in the Castle fields in Warkworth.

Consultation has taken place with Northumberland Estates, Northumbrian Water and Northumberland County Council at meetings arranged by A.D.C. regarding the flooding on MOrwick Road. A site visit has taken place and I believe that we should see some positive action very soon.

The pedestrian crossing area at the top of Beal Bank has now been reinstated.

The District Council has rejected the application for the development at 48, Morwick Road, reported in last month's magazine.

I was sad to read the letter in last month's Pelican from an untraceable source that criticised the Parish Council's report on the Hermitage licensing appliccation. Surely the point is that there were a lot of people working to get a sensible agreement and the right result for the village and at the end of the hearing this is what was achieved.

Finally, I would like to wish all the residents of Warkworth, Acklington and surrounding areas a very happy and prosperous New Year and to remind them that I am here to help with local issues.
