| Minutes of the last Annual Meeting The Chairman read the Minutes of the last Annual Meeting, these were approved and signed. Annual Report of the Chairman Councillor Elliott started his report by saying that this was the ultimate year of the four year period of the Council, and thanked all of the Councillors, on behalf of himself and the whole village, for their time and effort. He mentioned the retirement of the Clerk after giving long service, and the employment of a new Clerk, and some of the subsequent changes made to the administration of the Council. He gave a summary of the year?s projects, including improvements to the Guildens and Castle Field play areas, the bus island scheme, the Mill and Monks walks are now complete, and the ongoing replacement of litter bins with Heritage style bins. Congratulations were extended to the Warkworth in Bloom Committee, and how, together with the Bridge repainting, it was thought that the approach to Warkworth from the North had never looked better. The Parish Council has improved its communications to the village, by the installation of a larger notice board, and the improvement of the board on Morwick Road. He also mentioned the excellent village web site run by Joan Robinson. It was generally agreed with the statement made by Councillor Ward that it was unfortunate that it was no longer a requirement for a member of the Parish Council to be a school governor. The Chairman stated that there was now a need for a committee to carry out regular inspections of the public areas, i.e. the playing fields, Guildens play park, Stanners and Millennium Garden, in line with public liability requirements for insurance. These areas should be inspected each month by the Parish Council; a record should be kept and reported back to the monthly meeting. Councillor Watson said that Alnwick District Council were beginning a scheme where they would carry out inspections by a trained person on a weekly bases and report back any problems for a charge of at least £250 per year. The PC should also put a sign on the Castle Field football field similar to that on the Guildens play park. Councillors Mr & Mrs Watson to inspect the Guildens play park, Councillor Elliott the Beach Road football field, Councillors Heir and Coulter the Stanners and Millennium Gardens. Presentation of Accounts The Clerk presented the unaudited Balance Sheet, this to be placed on the Parish notice board. Confirm dates and time of next meetings It was agreed that the Council would continue to meet on the first Thursday of each month at 7.00pm. |
