Hermitage Inn and Warkworth Castle
|
WARKWORTH The ancient part of Warkworth village lies within a loop of the river Coquet. St. Lawrence's Church nestles in the centre of the village and the magnificent medieval castle towers over the main street. The United Reformed Church is a short walk away in The Butts. Warkworth has an excellent Parish Council whose members work very hard to keep the village amenities in good condition. The picturesque village has several good hotels, bed and breakfast houses, restaurants, gift shops and a post office/general store. The newer part of the village is residential and has been built mostly during the last century. Between the two parts of the village, in the shadow of the castle, is the Cricket Club whose members have played cricket there during the past 125 years.
