WELLESBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL Minutes of the Amenities Committee of the Council of 17th June 2008 at 2 School Road, Wellesbourne

1. Election of Chairman - previously Cllr Parton Cllr Mrs Bolton proposed Cllr Parton as Chairman of the Committee 2nd Cllr Mrs Bartlett
In the absence of the Chairman it was agreed that Cllr RB should chair the meeting until Cllr RP was able to attend

Mr Brookes, Newbold Road, asked about traffic speeding and flood prevention measures taken by the Council. He was informed by the Chairman that the remit of the Amenities Committee did not cover these areas. ACTION: Letter to be sent to Mr Brooks BY: Office
6. Matters Arising It was suggested that the dog warden should be asked to speak at the next APM Action: November 2008 invite dog warden BY: Clerk A map showing the different areas of responsibility for grass cutting was available in the PC office and would be circulated to Cllrs.
7. Mountford Sportsfield /Dovehouse Sportsfield/Community Land The Clerk had written to the Wellesbourne Football Club 97 regarding anti social behaviour at a "rave" and had received an apology.
The tactile surface at the Lych gate had been installed and the hedge at the Bowls Club planted. The Parish Council contractor was to provide a length of hose pipe for watering the plants. Five Alive activities had taken place on the sportsfield. Mr Muggeridge was due to bring his fair - the key to the bollards was to be left with Cllr JG. The St Peter's Tiddler's Fair had been rescheduled for September. A date for the licence review for the Wellesbourne Football Club 97 had yet to be confirmed.
8. Mountford and Dovehouse Play areas The new gate for the Dovehouse play area had been procured and was available for collection. Cllr RP was attending the area committee to seek funding for new play equipment. He had said that even if granted it was possible that projects would be delayed until September. Cllr RP was to press for immediate payment as the suppliers quotation had been based on last years prices. Cllr VB asked that she be excused play equipment inspections at the present time due to ill health. This was agreed by Cllrs.
9. Sports Association Cllrs RP, JG, RW had attended a cordial meeting at the Sports Association where it had been agreed that all communication should be channelled through the Clerk and John Turner (Secretary). There was an ongoing problem with vandalism on the cricket square particularly of broken glass being buried on the pitch and stones being thrown from the football stand. It was agreed to give the police a copy of the Parish Council bylaws which would empower them to ask people to leave. ACTION: Supply police with bylaws BY: Office Cllr RW had met with representatives of Wellesbourne Football Club 97 and asked them to prepare a proposal for resiting the practice pitch. Particular attention should be paid to the lighting provision which was likely to generate complaints from residents.
