PRESS NOTICE WELLESBOURNE SHUTTLE BUS LAUNCH The Shuttle Bus will be withdrawn at end of December 2008 due to lack of support. Friday morning 14th December 2007, will see the launch of the Wellesbournne Shuttle Bus. Shuttle Bus is a Parish Council initiative aimed at making it easier for residents to use the facilities provided by local shops, businesses and Clubs Commenting Project Chairman, Councillor John Grantham said " We hope that Shuttle Bus will encourage people to stay within the village to do their shopping and use local business and community facilities. It will be particularly beneficial for those people who have no transport of their own and perhaps attract those people who are looking for a cheaper green alternative to the car. Like the large oak from the little acorn, we hope that a thriving daily transport service to the whole community will grow from this small start " NOTES FOR EDITORS Shuttle Bus will be operated by local company, Stewarts Coaches based on the industrial estate. It will carry the Service Number 10 The service will put most people within easy walking or wheelchair distance of a bus stop, where Shuttle Bus will take them to and from facilities throughout the village, such as the shops, Co-op, Library, Medical Centre, Bank, Post 0ffice, Building Society Village Hall, Methodist Church, Church Centre, play areas and the sheltered homes at Farrington Court, Willett House and Lawrence Mackie House. Starting at Frost Road it will travel along Warwick Road; Newbold Road, Mordaunt Road, St Peters Road, Kineton Road, Willow Drive, School Road, Bridge Street, Chestnut Square, Stratford Road, Elliott Drive, Loxley Close, the Bypass, Loxley Road, Dovehouse Drive and Hammerton Way before retracing the route back to Frost Road. Timetables will be available locally Initially it will be a 16 seat mini bus with 2 wheelchair spaces and will operate once a week on Friday making 5 round trips between approximately 9 am and 3 15 pm. Depending on demand, the size of bus, days and hours of operation will increase to provide a reliable daily service, taking in other destinations, such as the School, Market and the proposed Dene Valley Sports and Community Centre. A Link Bus between Wellesbourne and nearby villages, is also planned Shuttle Bus is aimed at all ages from young families to the older ones residents who wants a convenient form of local transport at an affordable price. Day tickets will cost £1.00, 50p for children of 3 to 13. The day ticket and frequency will allow passengers to spread their journey between buses to give them adequate time to complete their business before returning home.
