To help prevent atm fraud:
"Please make sure you check the machine before you use it for any signs of tampering. If you find it difficult to get your card into the slot or people are hanging around the machine for no reason, do not use it, go to another machine. "Report the incident straight away to the shop or bank where the ATM is located and contact the police. Never allow anyone to take your card from you. "If you lose your card in a cash machine or it is taken from you, cancel the card immediately with the card issuers 24-hour emergency line which can be found on your last bank statement or on the Card Watch website www.cardwatch.org.uk. Do not assume that your bank automatically knows that the machine has withheld your card.
